What to put in a renewals extract before you brief a chart studio

A practical field checklist for billing and CRM exports so cohort and lag charts do not stall mid-build.

What to put in a renewals extract before you brief a chart studio

Chart work stalls when extracts miss tenure or cancellation timing. Use this checklist before you send a brief.

Minimum fields

  1. Member or account identifier (pseudonymous is fine)
  2. Plan code and plan family label
  3. Join or first-bill date
  4. Latest renewal or anniversary date
  5. Status: active, cancelled, paused, pending save
  6. Cancellation notice date and effective end date (both, if you have them)
  7. Gross recurring amount and currency

Nice-to-haves

  • Acquisition channel
  • Region or branch
  • Save-offer accepted (yes/no) and date
  • Reason codes with a short glossary

Hygiene tips

Export one row per membership period when possible. Document mid-year plan renames. If a CRM migration scrambled tenure, say so in the brief — we will draw a hard rule on the charts rather than invent continuity.

Clean extracts are the fastest path to usable subscription renewal forecasting charts.
